HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR LEADING OTHERS, TO WHERE IT APPEARS IMPOSSIBLE?
After God had told Moses that he and Aaron ‘had disqualified themselves from leading Israel’ to its God purposed inheritance, Moses asked God to appoint someone to lead Israel. Numbers 27 verses 18-19 reflect God’s following response to Moses;
“Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him. Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly, and commission him in their presence”
Whilst Joshua’s having the spirit of leadership was given by God as the reason, for his requiring Moses to commission Joshua as the new leader over Israel. The question that arises is how did Joshua, unlike all other Israelis, prepare himself for ending up not only having the spirit of leadership. But that which qualified him to lead Israel, to ‘its always appearing impossible’ earthly ruling and God serving inheritance. The following extract from Exodus 33 verses 7-11 gives some hint of how Joshua prepared himself;
“Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp ………., calling it ‘the tent of meeting’. Anyone enquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting ………… . As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance. While the Lord spoke with Moses …………. , all the people stood and worshipped each at the entrance to their tent. The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but ‘his young aide Joshua son of Nun’ did not leave the tent.”
This scripture highlights Joshua’s two core attributes, which made him to be distinctly different from all other Israelis. Firstly, Joshua ‘fully committed himself to always aid or assist’ the Israeli leader Moses. Secondly, Joshua dedicated his ‘from Egypt to Canaan’ entire wilderness life, not for living in his family tent as other wilderness living Israelis did. But for remaining in the tent of meeting ‘for continuously studying whatever God and Moses would have spoken’ to each other, as these speakings were the then leading leadership practices. It was this learning leadership skills by both ‘assisting current leaders and continuing to study’ the leading leadership practices, which God ‘not only identified as the spirit of leadership’ that no other Israeli had, but also that the spirit of leadership had developed Joshua’s following ‘maturing and commissioning leadership’ qualities;
- Sacrificing one’s family comforts for growing and sustaining the capacity, to make ‘the necessary contribution’ in helping one’s leaders,in their leading others to get to their God purposed destiny.
- Growing ‘the unwavering commitment and enduring capacity’to relentlessly pursue, whatever one’s God purposed accomplishment.
- Having the unshakable belief ‘in any willing person’s being boundlessly enabled’ by the Word of God’s boundless power and wisdom, to ‘confront and overcome’the difficulties or limitations, which are always encountered in any person’s pursuit of higher destined visions or aspirations.
Joshua demonstrated the above ‘maturing and commissioning leadership qualities’ per Numbers 14 verses 6-10, when he was joined by only Caleb out of all the Israeli elders. In tearing their clothes ‘as a demonstration of their rejecting’ the rebelling of all Israelis, against ‘their God required crossing over to take possession’ of their God promised inheritance. And in urging all the Israelis ‘not only to be not afraid’ of their encountered enemy giants. But to also ‘immediately crossover to possess’ their God promised inheritance, as ‘their God’s protection and enablement’ was to devour all their enemies.
Joshua’s above summarised initial leadership preparation or training, and ‘his subsequent leading Israel to its always appearing impossible’ earthly ruling and God serving inheritance. Both foreshadowed not only ‘what Jesus Christ availed and commissioned for all people’ per Revelation 5 verses 5-12 and Matthew 28 verses 18-20, but are also ‘the requisite preparations which grow’ any person’s capacity, for leading others to the fulfillment of their appearing impossible pursuits. Accordingly, whoever has led others ‘to the fulfilment of their appearing impossible’ pursuits, that person would have previously prepared oneself ‘for developing and demonstrating’ at least the 1 to 3 highlighted maturing and commissioning leadership qualities, just as did the Wright brothers, Edison, Churchill, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mandela, etc, etc.
For helping yourself and other people ‘to grow the maturing and comissioning’ leadership qualities, this Your World Today invites you to share EITHER;
- Any of ‘your experienced seeking but failing to grow’ the maturing and commissioning leadership qualities, and your consequently ‘not having the capacity to pursue let alone lead other people’ in pursuing, what ‘your most desired yet appearing impossible’ dream, vision or aspiration. OR;
- Any of your experienced ‘seeking and growing the maturing and commissioning’ leadership qualities, which ‘grew your capacity to pursue or lead other people’ in pursuing, what ‘your most desired yet appearing impossible’ dream, vision or aspiration.
